Bio-based fire protection technology

Our innovative NORFLAM® technology offers a bio-based flame retardant alternative for ecological construction. This technology meets the latest standards and stringent fire safety regulations required of wood-based construction materials.

The highest reaction to fire performance for wood with the NORFLAM® technology is Euroclass B-s1, d0 (EN13501-1). In addition a range of NORFLAM® based solutions are available, meeting commonly specified Euroclass standards C-s1, d0 and D-s1, d0.

NORFLAM® solutions include fire protection for wooden claddings, interior panelling and slats, mass timber products like CLT and glued wood products, thermally modified timber as well as wood-based panels.

The solutions are pH-neutral, extremely low-VOC, water-borne and bio-based with no harmful chemicals. And over 95 % of the raw materials used in NORFLAM® flame retardants are non-fossil and more than 40 % of the raw materials are bio-based.

Contributing to a low carbon footprint when used in building construction, NORFLAM® solutions are compliant with LEED and BREEAM criteria. The solutions also carry the M1 and A+ emission ratings, among other classifications and certifications.

NORFLAM® flame retardants can be applied industrially or manually off-site and on-site. Industrial treatment processes and products can be e.g. CE certified.
